On Sunday I flew out to meet Barbara and Tobias in Ocho Rios, Jamaica for their destination wedding. It was held at the beautiful RIU located just West of Ocho Rios. I LOVE shooting destination weddings. A lot more goes into planning a destination wedding, than a local wedding would; especially if your flying in people from all over the world. Half of Tobias' family came from Sweden, and half of Barb's family came from Canada (which by the way....I have a new found respect for Canadians). It was definitely nice being in warm weather for a change, and was really nice to get a way from reality for a few days. Did I also mention that I had a blast? Swedes frikking rock. Tobias' friends are the coolest cats ever to walk the earth. It was very interesting to learn about the Swedish....and by the time 3 o'clock came...we we're all best friends!
Surprise!
Jamaica is SO beautiful!
It's happening...
...your wedding day is here!
THE most stunning bride ever to walk the planet.
Minister: "Does anyone have any objections as to why Barbara and Tobias' should not get married?"
Tobias: "I do."
Poor Tobias...all he wanted to do was just say "I do." In defense, you couldn't understand a word the guy was saying because his Jamaican accent was so thick. Combine that with Tobias being Swedish....and well.....Tobias just knew all he would have to say is "I do."
On the grounds of the resort.
We met back up in the evening for a few more shots.....
...but we we're saving our energy for the next day.
Frikking....like.....wow!
Ya mon!
After dinner....the partying began! I had to make a decision....blast everyone with light from a flash, or stand completely still and capture the mood via candlelight...
...I decided to just push the limits!
Barbara's Mom says to Carl (the best man)..."What would you do to NOT drink this drink?" That drink....by the way.....was a combination of about 15 drinks that we're on our little table on the beach.....nasty!
The night ended at about 3 o'clock in the morning....by that time...none of us we're talking in complete sentences anymore. Barbara, Tobias, and their families let me into their lives, and into such a private and beautiful event....and for that I am completely thankful. We definitely had some good times....and now plenty of memories to last a lifetime.
Stay tuned tomorrow for Part 2...you will NOT want to miss it!
