My old cameras finally crapped out so it was time to invest in a new camera. Coincidentally enough Canon announced they we’re taking pre-orders for the 7D. Instead of just buying another run-of-the-mill camera, I opted for the best. Compared to what I used to have, this is a dream come true. The AF is frikking phenomenal, pretty much allowing you to focus in near-dark conditions. That’s a good things because I hate blasting around with a flash if I don’t have too. Not because I’m lazy, but because I like motion. The noise at high ISO’s…well…what noise at high ISO’s?

I can do things that I could never do with my old camera, and not to mention the HD video recording capabilities. I shot some video at the beach today at high noon on a cloudless beautiful day; the footage is surreal. I’ll upload it tomorrow so you can catch the HD clip but I can say that video will some how be implemented into the wedding workflow. With Charlie and Sined’s wedding coming up in a few weeks, they are really going to luck out because I will try to do some video at this wedding. I want to see how easy it is in real time, on a real wedding.

For now, some photos from last night and today coupled with some technical data for the photographers out there.

On a side note, I rarely post on this blog anymore because it’s so much easier to post something on Twitter or Facebook. So follow me or friend me if you really want to know what I’m up to.

All of these shots we’re processed with DPP and are straight out of camera. Unfortunately ACR doesn’t yet support 7D RAW files, but DPP does a better job at handling the noise. I personally like to use LR but until ACR is updated it will have to be DPP…yeah you know me (sorry, had to do it).
